WORST FAN EXPERIENCE
Meeting fans has always been one of my favorite parts of this journey. The whole concept of having a “fan” still feels odd to me like I get uncomfortable even typing the word fan right now because I’m like who do you think you are but ANYWAYS. Getting to connect with you all is so special because it makes all of this worth while. Our fans are actually the greatest most kind people on this planet. I’ve only had a handful of questionable experiences and only 2 that I would consider “bad”.
The most recent bad experience was at our show in San Diego a few weeks ago. I decided to make a video about it because it really shook me up and reminded me about the reality of this career path. I’m typically a very trusting person and I don’t always think about the ways someone could hurt me or take advantage of me. This experience was the first time I really felt in danger emotionally and physically. I’ve never been “up against” one of my booties before until now. The events that came to pass happened during our show in font of everyone. My mom and grandma were visiting me in LA that week and were at the show as well. I don’t think I’ve ever been so uncomfortable or embarrassed. I go into all the details in the video, but I’m just happy everyone ended up being safe and the show was able to go on.
Ultimately the experience taught me that you cannot control the actions of others, only your reaction. Things could have taken a very different turn had I reacted differently, and it demonstrated how much power there is in restraint. There is more power in a reaction than an action. You can take control of a situation by being the bigger person and not allowing it to consume you. It’s so cliché but love always wins.
Anyways I love you all so much and just want to thank you for being the best booties ever. The fact that I've only had 2 bad experiences in almost 4 years of doing this is proof of your awesomeness. Check out the video below to hear more about what happened.
